Laws need to be harsher for executives than citizens and should be based on the number of people willingly involved. Infringement costs should be lower, such as “retail cost” lower so there aren’t these ridiculous multi-million lawsuits for pennies of actual harm.

Forgot to mention that the CRIA didnt have any of their executives or the executives of their member companies arrested for their INTENTIONAL COMMERCIAL COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT!

Then again I guess the 5 years in jail and $250,000 fine only applies to people who are not part of the copyright lobby/troll group.

It unprofessional to call them “copyright trolls”. It might have been better just to call them the “copyright lobby”. Besides generally people dislike lobbyists at least as much as they dislike Trolls.

Corporate greed and fear mongering. These bills do nothing for the common good of the people in the U.S. or anywhere else on this planet. Heavy penalties for copyright infringement and the like. Say I post “zoom zoom” as a heading for a blog, is Mazda going to have the site shut down and sue me? Intelectual property? Seems more like thought police to me.

Yes, they could have. Wikipedia’s own blackout notice linked to information telling users how to bypass it, if they really needed access to the information. Simply turning off JavaScript was one way. It worked for me.
