Titre: How Do We Explain Copyright Reform, Digital Locks ....
Posté par: RDesroches le 25 juin 2010, 04:10:03
Hey, so I'm planning a rally about C-32 and realized that if I put posters up all over the place saying there's a rally do modify C-32 because we want them to change the DRM provision, most people would probably see C-32 and DRM and have no idea what the rally is actually about. I was wondering if anyone of you out there had ideas on how to explain it so simply that it would fit nicely onto a poster.

I made up a brochure for the rally in Calgary. I made it in ms publisher so if you have that program i can give you the publisher file for easy editing. In addition to that I made a poster which discusses C-32 in relation to file sharing. I made that in inkscape, so I can also send you the svg file if you want it. You are also more then welcome to copy any of the Calgary's rally page on facebook

as well I wrote a quick post about how C-32 relates to file sharing on the forums here...

Plus use and abuse whatever I wrote to your hearts content. I know that my focus is mostly about file sharing and a lot of people prefer to talk about the digital lock issue because it is less ethically controversial but I sure that file sharing can fit in there somewhere.

Ps. I am glad to see that you guys in Ottawa are getting a rally going as well. Hopefully we can get them going in every major city in Canada!

LOL do it like one of those 'you wouldn't steal' commercials they put out recently.

"You wouldn't lock someone out of their own home? Why does media companies want to lock you out of your own legitimate purchases?" :) ironically it compares physical property to intellectual (or Imaginary) property... But hey they want to keep making the fallacious link between the two we might as well abuse that link when it fits our purposes.

Thanks guys, the Calgary info is really helpful and I like the lock idea. If other cities are having rallies maybe we can coordiante to have them on the same day, I know its too late to align with Calgary, but I'll check the meetip page to see who else is working on this.

Digital locks in the simplest term is a lock on software that you need the permission of the distributor to use. In simpler terms, it is a lock on software that if you don't pay for permission from the distributor, you don't get the key.

... and the key breaks once you've used it, or if it's just poorly made. Sometimes the key won't turn at all.
