The following committees are currently active. If you would like to volunteer for one, or if you're already on one and I forgot to add your name, please reply to this thread. All mentioned email addresses are @pirateparty.ca.

Policy – Constitutional Refinement
The Party's constitution, while complete and in full force, needs to be monitored and adjusted as we grow and prepare for our first federal election. This committee is devoted to discussing changes and possible solutions to problems that have been identified.
Members: Jason Carr, Shawn Gray, Christopher Hart, Sean Hunt, Travis McCrea, Mikkel Paulson

Policy – Meeting Framework
We conduct general meetings on the 19th of every month, but the procedure used at the meetings is imperfect and needs to be refined to ensure maximum productivity while maintaining the ability of all members are able to contribute. This committee's mandate includes the development of Stenobot, the IRC bot intended to be used to take votes and so forth during our general meetings.
Members: Sean Hunt (chair), ACarne, Joshua Doucet, Mapleson, Mikkel Paulson, taketheleap

Public Relations – Interview/Media Relations (invitation only)
When you see an interview on TV or read something in the newspaper, chances are that the interviewee is a member of this committee. They monitor pr@ and answer the phone if you dial our toll-free number, 1-877-850-PPCA.
Members: Mike Bleskie (PR director), Jake Daynes (spokesman), Daniel LaSalle, Mikkel Paulson

Public Relations – Local Relations
The Pirate Party started at a grassroots level, and it needs to maintain activity there if it is to grow and thrive. This committee encourages and supports the development of local and university networks.
Members: Daniel LaSalle (chair), Mike Bleskie, Mapleson, Mikkel Paulson, Chris Tomalty, trailblazer11

Public Relations – Marketing/Promotions
Produces promotional documents, merchandise, and discusses the best ways to distribute it and generally get the word out about the Party and its positions.
Members: Mike Bleskie, Jason Carr, Patrick McFadden, Dain Rautenstrauch, taketheleap, tecywiz121, trailblazer11

Technical Management – CaPT Management
The Canadian Public Tracker, or CaPT, is an initiative of the Pirate Party to demonstrate that free peer-to-peer file sharing, specifically BitTorrent, can be beneficial to artists. Material can only be submitted with the express permission of the artist and/or label involved. This committee is in charge of verifying artists who reach out to us by emailing capt@, promoting the service to other interesting artists, and maintaining its technical foundation.
Members: Mikkel Paulson (chairman), Jason Carr, Daniel LaSalle

Technical Management – Forum Moderation (invitation only)
While we expect all members to behave according to the forum rules and treat one another with respect, there are occasionally problems with spam and forum activity that represents the Party in a poor light. This committee is responsible for ensuring that discussion on the forum takes place smoothly and according to the rules.
Members: Mike Bleskie, Jake Daynes, Daniel LaSalle, Nuitari

Technical Management – Site Management (invitation only)
Monitoring the Party's servers and correcting problems is a never-ending job, and it falls to this committee's members to ensure that the system continues to run smoothly.
Members: Nuitari

It's for discussing amendments and clarifications for our party constitution. Obviously with no members it hasn't done anything yet, but there are definitely some amendments that could be made regarding the upcoming directors election.

I'm not sure why we have a CaPT Seeding Committee. It's not like we need more than one person seeding, let alone that they need to be coordinated.

Hey, I was wondering if there was a fundraising committee. I didn't see it on the list, but I think it would be good to have one. Also, I noticed that Ottawa has the largest membership, but seems to have hardly any activity, would it be of interest to have me as a general organizer (or whatever you want to call it) for Ottawa in order to coordinate members and get things rolling. I.E. organize volunteers, promotion campaigns, fundraisers, that type of thing. I have some experience from helping to organize fundraisers for the Children's Hospital of Ottawa and with Amnesty International.

Why don't you swing by the Local Meetups board and see if you can get something going? I'll be there around the 22nd, so if you schedule something then, I should be able to attend.

Wasn't I part of that Constitutional Refinement committee?  I was half asleep last night, but I thought that was the one that I joined.

It seems like a bit short notice to promote a meetup for the 22nd, but I'll post on the board, see what we can get going.

Would it be possible to get onto one of the Policy committees as a researcher? I have extensive research experience from studying history and politics; also I have access to useful resources, I live near the national archives and have access to various university libraries (though most members probably do as well). I could prepare reports that would help to back up our policies and prepare for possible criticism.

You're welcome to join any committee you like, aside from those that are invitation-only, of course. We don't really have a research committee, although I would like to strike one. In the meantime, if you PM me your email address, I can send you the data sets I've collected from Stats Canada if you want to take a look at that.

I've updated the list of committees with a description of the responsibilities of each one.

I thought it might go under Platform information, but then again it doesn't really have to be part of a committee. I could just do it independently and then share my research, when relevant.
