You think we should drop the “Party” from the short name?

Just a quick note on how to win voters over in the next election. We should stay positive. Avoid confrontational angry rhetoric. Respond calmly and steadfastly to challenges that is sure to be directed at us especially on copyright. We want to be the fresh air and leave positive impression on voters. Talk concisely and precisely (if possible) with lots of substance to drive our message home. We want to make old politics evidently silly. Show a clear contrast between us and the major party. We should make that on top of our list if we create a campaign guide or strategy.

Cool. Totally agree. I am a proponent of the no more than 3 syllable brand name rule. Apparently most recognizable brand have 3 syllables or less. PPCA is 4. Pirates is 2 and more recognizable.

I agree we should stay away from acronyms on the ballot.

Here in Nova Scotia, the government is ensuring 100% high speed access by funding ISPs to set up wireless broadband. I don't think it's impossible to provide high speed to every Canadian. In the worse case scenario they have satellite.

I have a Political Science BA and a Master's in Public Administration so I've done my fair of research and writing. I'm in the Digby NS area, so I could help with meet ups.

As 2010 comes to end in might be fitting to have a discussion about the past year and the events that have transpired as well as what to expect for 2011.

For the pirate party this seems like a banner year. We became a federally recognized party, had our first official leadership race and ran our first federal candidate(the first pirate party candidate outside of Europe, in fact). Pretty remarkable stuff I would say.

The was a good year for platform issues as well. ACTA's threat was significantly diminished and Bill C-32 is struggling. Cablegate has shown the world the democratizing power of the internet and along with that the solidarity of pirate parties with wikileaks around the world. It really hard to think of a word to describe 2010 as anything but exciting.

It wasn't all good mind you, C-50, 51 and 52 are looming as a serious threat to our privacy rights.

I wonder what 2011 will bring?
