Hey Craig! I'm pretty sure you can do just about anything, but would you mind joining the Constitutional Refinement Committee? We have a directors election coming up and I'd like some help drafting an amendment to the constitution before it's called on the 19th.

I'm looking to help out wherever I can. My potentially relevant skills include:

-Proofreading
-Creating fluent PowerPoint (or other) presentations
-Ability to endure monotonous tasks (you never know when that'll come in handy!)
-I have an eye for finding conflicts/loopholes/loose ends in documents (though by no means am I a pro at it)
-Member of Toastmasters, one speech away from completing my Competent Communication manual
-I am an Engineer in Training with a focus on transportation.

If there's a use for any of the above please let me know and I'll be happy to help out. From the meeting yesterday it sounded like the constitutional and platform committees are working on documents. I'd be happy to do some proofreading if there's no one dedicated to that yet.

More eyes are always welcome. I'll add you to the committees, although they're nowhere near proofreading stage yet.

(Except you, ayes.)

Hi,
I have a comp sci degree so I can be involved in any long term projects!

I also have an English Literature degree which is probably pretty rare for our party. I'd love to edit press releases, help speach writing and edit letters and other documents!

Advertising (Copywriter and designer for Kingston Grammar Police advertisements, a small student program promoting proper grammar in schools)
Organization (Secretary-General and Director-General of the Security Council of Kingston Model UN 2010)
Research (especially governmental and regulatory systems - Executive Committee Chair at KMUN 2010 responsible for adapting The Hague Rules for General Assembly, Human Rights Commission, and Security Council - as well as the position of different parties to an issue)
Writing (particularly position papers.  Model UN again Smiley )

I am pursuing a degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management at Carleton, so I'll be able to add economics and political science to my areas of competency.  I already am an amateur student of economic policy, but nothing hardcore.

Use me as you like Smiley

Welcome aboard Chris, glad to have you.

If you talk to Mikkel he can add you to a couple committees that you might be able to help in.

once again, welcome to the PPCA.

1) I have a History/Lit BA so research comes pretty easily to me (I also work in an academic library so resources are always near at hand) -- likewise, writing and editing. Grin

2) I'm good at explaining concepts to people, once I understand them. I think this would be useful for outreach.

3) Lots of other skills that have already been mentioned and some that haven't -- I've been described as a renaissance grrl -- try me if you run short somewhere.

I'm a bit of a jack-of-all-trades. I believe that once things start rolling, I will be best put to work organizing public relations events and fundraisers for whomever becomes a local candidate here in Ottawa. Should that fail to come to pass, there may be other areas that I can be of service. Below is a brief version of my resume, with addition of previous political activities.

Experience:

  • Office of Letters and Light, Sudbury, ON -- Municipal Liaison and Event Coordinator -- October 2008- May 2010

Position involved:
  • Marketing Material Design: Develop brochures, posters, calendars, bookmarks, stickers and welcome package materials to promote National Novel Writing Month, Script Frenzy, and local writing groups.
  • Oral Communication: Discuss various aspects of upcoming events and group activities with festival browsers, encouraging participation and growth of events.
  • Booking Locations & Partnerships: Obtain permission from numerous locations to hold writing events, including overnight and 24-hour write-a-thons. Also obtain select discounts and promotions from local businesses.
  • Develop Challenges and Rewards: Create unique challenges to spur participants into completing month-long goals, with appropriate, interesting, and changing handmade prizes and rewards.

  • The Source, Sudbury, ON --  Sales Representative / Manager -- August 2007 – July 2010

Position involved:
  • Customer Service: Developed oral communication skills in a very busy, knowledge based retail environment with intent to persuade customers to purchase items.
  • Project Management: Guide and complete projects related to merchandizing, pricing, stock organization, and inventories.

  • Schumacher Public School, Schumacher, ON -- Pre-Service Teacher -- Fall 2006

Position Involved:
  • Unit Development & Execution: Developed, implemented and evaluated lessons in language arts, social studies, and visual arts.
  • Computer Integration: Integrated use of Microsoft Word, Publisher, Power Point, and other computer applications with regular curriculum.

Education:
  • Current -- Algonquin College -- Event Management Graduate Certificate
  • Grad 2007 -- Nipissing University -- Bachelor of Education, Junior/Intermediate Division, Multimedia Technology in Education Focus
  • Grad 2006 -- Carleton University -- Bachelor of Arts, Honours English

Political Experience:
  • Former member of the NDP
  • During the race to find someone to replace Ed Broadbent as the MP for Ottawa Centre in 2005, I attended the debate and wrote a blog post that was subsequently linked to by the campaigns for Tiffany Murray and Jamie Heath. The position was taken by Paul Dewar.
  • I worked as a volunteer performing Data Entry and Phone Discussions for Paul Dewar's Campaign
  • I monitored the voting at Carleton University during the election, and called in my results to the campaign staff at HQ
