Maybe we can create a one page flyer and put it in PDF. That way people can share it or e-mail it to their friends. Or print and distribute them in their parties. Especially with Christmas season fast approaching, it could be a good conversation topic in family gatherings. :-D

A business card that we can just give out to the people we talked to would also be nice. With some catchy phrase to entice them and makes them want to find out more. Something like "Be a Pirate" and some description, or some phrase that would pique their curiosity. Plus our e-mail and web address.

Distributing flyer is still a very viable option if we want to reach lots of households. However, printing mass volumes of flyers is not cheap. Anyone want to start a printing press and offer PPCA printing price at cost? Smiley

I've quickly calculated what it would cost to setup a home printing press using Xerox Phaser 3600. The cost per 8.5" x 5.5" single sided page is about $0.02 and double sided is $0.03 (paper and cartridge) That printer is rated with monthly duty cycle of 200,000 pages. Printer and cutter cost at 200,000 pages is no more than $0.01 for each 8.5" x 5.5" page and becomes negligible at above 200,000 pages.

If getting mass amounts of flyer is not affordable then distributing pdf for people to print and distribute to their friends would be helpful so that by the time the next election comes around, people are already aware of what our party is all about.

During Jeff Coleman's Election Result Party, someone had mentioned a good opportunity in attracting people who don't normally vote (probably due to disenchantment with the current political process). People I have talked to commented how they thought it was like the Rhinoceros party. It seems to be a common misconception. They did not know it is a serious party. So now that they know, they are going to check it out.

Thats a good idea, a simple straight forward flyer (not too complicated to scare or deter people) that covers the 5 pillars that represent this party
1) Copyright & access to culture
2) Privacy
3) Patent law
4) Net neutrality
5) Open government and open access
With a side note saying that any other issues (education, environment, economy, long-gun-registry, etc) that falls outside of the PPCA platform shall be subject to free vote depending on the recommendations from their riding constituency - example the ridings of Winnipeg North (left wing) and Dauphin (right wing) have different ideologies.

Thats my 2-cents (not as if 2-cents are actually worth anything these days).

Kinda doubt it, my family is trying to shut me up about politics since the Winnipeg Civic election, and then this federal by-election and the potential spring election Tongue LOL

Baby boomers tend to be associated with long establish parties like the Libs and Cons and maybe NDP to some degree.

You hardly see any baby boomers being associated with Greens and other newly form parties, so chances are, PPCA might not attract baby boomers to the same degree as the Libs/Cons.

But you never know, this country is currently noticeably polarized between the Liberal and Conservative (30%-30%) so anything can happen really.

Youth tends to be the target of new parties such as NDP, Greens, and others and certainty this one too.

That depends. In my experience, they tend to be new cynical towards new political entrants, but a lot of them are also absolutely fed up with the status quo. I wouldn't give up on them just yet.

I'm not sure it's accurate to say that the country is polarized. I don't know very many people who wholeheartedly support either party, mostly they support one out of opposition for the other or just can't find another party to support. Canadian politics is very much dominated by the politics of apathy.

The NDP is 50 years old. The Greens are 30, but they've only recently broken into the political scene in a big way, so I'll grant you that one.

I see opportunity in attracting the voters fed up with our current political system or process, and that includes baby boomers. Our platform that might attract their attention the most is giving voter more voice such as the idea of open source direct voting. In relation to that, there seems to be reaction (they tend to go hmmm) when I mention our representative will consult with their constituents on issues that are not directly part of our platform with the recognition that different riding have different ideas on things. So we could make that on top of our list on flyers. So even if they don't care about copyrights reforms, the idea about political reform and giving them a sense that they could have direct say/input could attract their attention and make them check us out more.

Indeed, anything can happen.

I think that's one of *our biggest strengths.  That caught my interest immediately and has really intrigued people that I have talked to about the party.
