So we’ve had a bit of a mix-up with the Elections Canada forms. The one we were filling out was a form for membership in an existing party, there’s a different one for the registration of a new party. We’ve updated the sign-up procedure to use the correct form and while it shouldn’t cause a problem if a lot of them are with the new form (according to the Elections Canada official that I spoke with), there is no guarantee. So I ask that people download the new form here, fill it out and mail it in, just in case they don’t accept the other one.
This was my fault, I did not understand the fine print well enough. It is all sorted out now however.

So that others don’t have to chase down the email that instructed them where to send the form.

Clearly not, merely delayed at worst. All it means is people may have to send in a second form, or more new people sending the proper form may be needed. I don’t think getting 300 people to send the proper form would be much of a problem.

I can’t be certain, but I think that the new form is the same as the one I downloaded and mailed off yesterday — did you make this correction before Friday? I think I printed mine off on Thursday, possibly late in the day.
I made the correction right before I posted the blog entry, probably around 11:30am yesterday.
I’ll remail mine Monday, including a note that says it’s my second form.
Please Rob, email everyone that signed up before. It was just by chance that I happened to go to the web site this morning. A lot of others will be just waiting for news in the Papers. Best let them all know that a new form is required, we need this Party!

Anthony: If you got the form two days ago, then it is the same one. I posted the new form on Sept. 18.
