General Assembly

Unlike other Canadian political parties, the Pirate Party of Canada practices direct democracy among its members in making important decisions, including the approval of candidate nominees. The General Assembly, constituted of all members, meets on the 19th of every month beginning at 8:00 PM ET. Anyone is welcome to attend the meetings, and members are encouraged to participate and vote. Meetings can be attended by pointing an IRC client at irc.pirateparty.ca #canada or by visiting our online chat page.

The General Assembly has the power to override the Federal Council on most matters.
