Shawn Gray, OCT

Director-at-Large, Strategy
Ottawa

Shawn R. Gray, OCT joined the party in August of 2010 because of a distaste for the way culture is stifled in the current copyright and intellectual property atmosphere in Canada. As an author, he appreciates the need for some copyright to ensure that culture-creators can continue to afford to live, but believe that the Pirate Party of Canada is the best vessel through which a balance can be created to help spread culture throughout the country.

Gray is also an Ontario Certified Teacher, and is currently obtaining a graduate certificate in Event Management at Algonquin College. He hopes to utilize the skills that he’s gained from the program to ramp up PPCA activities nation-wide and help lead the party through the next election.

Gray actively volunteers in a number of different organizations in Ottawa, helping them run their events locally. With over 150 hours in the last 4 months, Gray has made an impact in the local community. He looks forward to extending that reach and helping make an impact nationwide through his participation with the party.

Within the PPCA, Gray is helping establish an Ottawa Pirate Party group. He was also the first Federal Clerk, and helped establish a proper check & balance to the position, job description, and the Clerk’s Quality Guide. He was elected as a Director-At-Large in February 2011, and took over as Volunteer Coordinator, generating volunteer job descriptions while simultaneously working toward generating a Marketing Plan to give the party some direction as it tries to grow in the national eye.
